Trying new things, taking risks, and challenging conventional thinking is a critical part of growth.

Often, having new experiences is tied directly to igniting creativity, looking at opportunities with a fresh perspective, and building the confidence needed to blaze new trails.

Last week, I led an experiential executive offsite where the focus was to come away with new concepts, ideas, and break through boundaries of long-held corporate beliefs around growth and market opportunities.

What made this offsite impactful was the focus on establishing new skills through experiences - not sitting in a boardroom.

Everyone was nervous about the minimal use of traditional work tools; like phones, email and PowerPoint.

The irony was the quality, quantity, and activation of work at the end of this leadership offsite far exceeded anything done before with this group!

The huge additional benefit was the renewed energy, opportunity to kick-back and have fun, and experience personal break-through moments along the way!

Conventional wisdom and conventional thinking are, well, conventional for a reason. But innovation and trailblazing and growth sometimes requires going beyond the conventional. So, embrace the new, the different, and the crazy - you never know what you’ll learn along the way!
